National Patient Safety Foundation Appoints New Members to Board of Governors

 
The National Patient Safety Foundation announced new appointments to its board of governors, effective July 1.

New additions to the board of governors include:

•    Beth Daley Ullem, MBA, patient advocate and member of the board of directors of Appleton, Wis.-based ThedaCare and of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
•    Barbara Edson, RN, MBA, MHA, vice president of clinical quality, Health Research & Educational  Trust, American Hospital Association.
•    Rollin J. Fairbanks, MD, director of the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare and of the Simulation Training and Education Lab, Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health and associate professor of emergency medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
•    Karen Frush, MD, chief patient safety officer, Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System, and vice president, quality, Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals.
•    Mark E. Reynolds, president of Cambridge, Mass.-based CRICO, the risk management foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions.

The foundation also announced that Jane Englebright, PhD, RN, and Sam R. Watson, MSA, will serve as chair and vice chair, respectively, of the board of governors. Gregg Meyer, MD, MSc, and Mary Beth Navarra-Sirio, MBA, RN, will serve as the new chair and vice chair, respectively, of the board of directors.
