Researchers from New York City-based Montefiore Medical Center and New York City-based Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine treated C. diff patients with either high or low doses of oral vacomycin every six hours for 72 hours.
After 72 hours, both patient groups showed similar rates of improvement, around 85 percent.
The study results have the potential to change the way antibiotic treatment is approached for C. diff infections, according to the report.
