Physicians selected necessity — “it is the only financially viable option” — most often as the primary motivation they pursued an employment opportunity over private practice, in a survey by The Medicus Firm and MDLinx.com Career Center.
“As doctors lose more and more control over their professional lives, they may start to feel increasingly stressed and frustrated. Gradually, physicians’ autonomy continues to erode,” Jim Stone, president of The Medicus Firm, said in a news release. He recommended that hospital administrators pay close attention to newly employed physicians, offering added support and guidance during the transition from private practice.
The survey was conducted by M3 Global Research and includes responses from 536 physicians.
