It will now report test results on a scale of 100 to 900, as opposed to using raw scores. A score of 400 will be considered passing on all exams. Through its new fixed scale score, ABS hopes to keep the passing standard consistent from year to year, and to make interpretation and comparison of results simpler.
ABS plans to put the system in place beginning with the 2016 General Surgery Qualifying Exam.
