This includes clinical integration with a hospital or health system and forming or joining an accountable care organization, physician/hospital organization or independent practice association, according to the MGMA report.
Just 27 percent of respondents plan on formally integrating or merging with another practice or selling to a hospital or health system.
“Physician practices are seeking ways to work better with other care providers, and affiliating informally or clinically integrating with other organizations allows practices to adapt as needed and position themselves for success in a value-based environment,” Susan L Turney, MD, MGMA president and CEO, said in a release.
The MGMA data is based on responses from 542 members gathered between Jan. 2 and Jan. 24.
