The Ebola outbreak, which started in August 2018, is now the second worst in history. As of June 5, health officials reported 2,031 confirmed and probable cases, including 1,367 deaths.
Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s health emergencies program, said a two-year timeline for ending the outbreak would be the worst-case scenario.
“If we make the right improvements, and we put the right effort into this, and we put the resources into this, and the funding into this, and the people into this,” the outbreak may end sooner, Dr. Ryan said during a press briefing cited by CNN.
