The event, called #HitMeWithYourFluShot, is part of the health system’s voluntary employee vaccination campaign. It also serves as an emergency preparedness drill, simulating the process that would need to be activated to vaccinate all employees in an emergency.
This year, the health system vaccinated 8,035 of 12,000 employees, up by nearly 200 from last year’s 7,868.
The event spanned 100 locations in four states, with flu vaccination stations operating for 18 consecutive hours. Additionally, employees had the option of using a drive-through vaccination station at ChristianaCare’s campus in Newark, Del.
Employees who were not vaccinated during the event will have other vaccination opportunities.
