Cape Fear Valley Medical Center's Corrective Action Approved; May Keep Medicare Funding

CMS has accepted a corrective action plan submitted by Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, N.C., allowing the health system to keep its Medicare funding, according to a WRAL report.

In late December, state regulators surveyed the hospital on behalf of CMS and found that the hospital's policies on telemetry, which includes devices that can take measurements remotely, were inadequate. CMS alerted Cape Fear Valley Health that it had until Jan. 19 to correct its deficiencies or risk losing its Medicare status.

CMS' approval of Cape Fear Valley Health's action plan means the system can continue receiving approximately $23 million a month in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, according to the report.
