So far 11 states have statewide protocols for reporting CRE. Those states are Colorado, Illinois, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
Infection tracking is one of four key steps recommended by the CDC for reducing the incidence of antibiotic resistance in a recent report on the subject.
