Brookwood Baptist is part of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare. CMS’ survey found the hospital’s psychiatric unit staff used inappropriate restraint methods on several occasions, with one patient suffering cardiac arrest after being restrained face down. Hospital workers were unable to resuscitate the patient.
The hospital submitted a plan of correction to CMS in August.
“Brookwood Baptist Medical center is now in compliance with all of the Medical Conditions of Participation cited as result of a survey conducted on July 12, 2018, and a follow up survey conducted on Aug. 9, 2018,” a CMS spokesperson said. “We continue to work with the state survey agency and the hospital to monitor its progress.”
The state is expected to complete a follow-up survey on or before Oct. 20.
