Mr. Bindman will go back to the University of California San Francisco as a primary care physician and health services researcher. AHRQ’s Deputy Director Sharon Arnold, PhD, will serve as acting director until a permanent replacement is named.
During Mr. Bindman’s tenure, the agency focused on the increased use of evidence in improving healthcare quality and value. It launched the Comparative Health System Performance Initiative, a project that aims to define and share the characteristics of high-performing health systems.
