6 Statistics on California’s Uninsured Population

A little more than 38 percent of Latino adults in California reported having no health insurance for all or part of 2011-2012, according to 2011-2012 Race/Ethnicity Health Profiles, released by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

The report provides information on key health topics for the approximately 27,796,000 adults in California. The estimates in the report are based on the 2011-2012 California Health Interview Survey.

Here are six statistics on the population of Californians who were uninsured, in accordance to race or ethnic group:

•    White — 18 percent
•    Asian — 19.8 percent
•    Black — 23.4 percent
•    American Indian/Alaska Native — 24 percent
•    Other/More than two races/ethnic groups — 27.5 percent
•    Latino — 38.6 percent
