4 infectious diseases physicians become 1st-time winners of LEAP Fellowship

The Infectious Diseases Society of America, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society selected the first-ever awardees of its recently established LEAP Fellowship.

The Leaders in Epidemiology, Antimicrobial stewardship, and Public health, or LEAP, Fellowship aims to support the next generation of infectious diseases leaders in hospital epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship.

These are the four early-career infectious diseases physicians who won the fellowship:

• Milner Staub, MD, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
• Dana Pepe, MD, Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
• Gabriella Andujar Vazquez, MD, Tufts Medical Center in Boston
• Jennifer Blumenthal, MD, Boston Children’s Hospital

Each of the awardees will receive a $100,000 grant. The one-year fellowship begins July 1.
