The agency is now updating the measles case count on a monthly basis in response to a slowdown in infections. April was the most severe month for measles, with 342 new cases reported to the CDC.
As of Nov. 7, 123 measles patients have required hospitalization this year, and 61 reported complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis.
While measles infections have occurred in 31 states, 75 percent are linked to outbreaks in New York, which have since ended.
