Jackson-based Children’s of Mississippi has opened a new $15.9 million skilled nursing facility to offer long-term care to patients with complex medical conditions.
The Alyce G. Clarke Center for Medically Fragile Children features 20 beds and is situated less than three miles from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, which owns Children’s of Mississippi.
The facility will support pediatric patients ages 19 and younger who are recovering from accidents or living with complex conditions that require round-the-clock care, including patients dependent on feeding tubes or ventilators, according to an Oct. 28 news release.
Staff at the facility will also offer training to parents and family members on how to care for their child before they are discharged from the facility. The center is supported by bonds that were issued by the state legislature in 2019 and 2020, as well as philanthropic support.
