Data research firm Statista compiled the ranking on behalf of Newsweek. Researchers assigned each nursing home an overall score based on CMS performance data (85 percent) and responses from a national survey (15 percent). Statista analyzed CMS data published in July on three measures: health inspections, staffing and quality. They also polled 46,000 medical experts, including nurses, nursing home managers and physicians, on nursing homes’ reputation.
