The Augusta Fire Department received the assisted living facility’s fire alarm notice around 7:15 p.m. By the time fire officials got to the scene at 7:20 p.m., visible flames were already spewing from the building.

The fire department spent an hour and a half getting the fire under control and ruled the building a “complete loss,” according to The Augusta Chronicle.

The residents were all safely relocated to other facilities owned by the same assisted living center operator. Fire officials have not yet revealed the cause of the fire.
