Post Falls-based Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital will cease to be a long-term acute care hospital in October and merge with a local inpatient medical rehabilitation facility, the Spokane Journal of Business reported Sept. 10.
The operational change comes as part of a plan for the hospital to become an extension of Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest. In the plan, both hospitals will operate under one hospital license, and both buildings will be known as Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest after Oct. 1.
Northern Idaho Advanced Care Hospital is recertifying 40 acute care beds to serve as inpatient medical rehab beds, bringing the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Northwest’s total inpatient bed count to 70.
