The Recovery Brands study revealed:
1. For individuals considering treatment for addiction, stigma is a major barrier, second only to cost.
2. The vast majority (82.2 percent) of individuals struggling with addiction have felt stigmatized for addiction.
3. Roughly three out of four individuals (73.9 percent) have felt most stigmatized by their own family members.
To help shift the culture around addiction and combat the stigma surrounding it, Recovery Brands is launching a three-month video challenge open to the public. The participants that submit the best video public service announcement that encourages individuals struggling with addiction to seek treatment will win $10,000.
