Texas Health Resources to open $37M drug and alcohol treatment facility

Arlington-based Texas Health Resources began construction on a $37 million, 80-bed facility dedicated to treating people with alcohol and drug addiction, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

The new 100,000-square-foot facility, which will be located in Mansfield, Texas, is the health system's first standalone, long-term addiction center.

Construction began Wednesday morning and the facility is slated to open in May 2017.

The treatment center will offer long-term drug and alcohol treatments for adults and adolescents, with services emphasizing a wellness approach. Massage services, a fitness center, indoor basketball court, yoga studio and movie theater will be featured in the center, according to the report.

Additionally, the Texas Health Residential Treatment Center will offer limo service to and from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport for patients coming from out of town.

"We will help clients achieve sobriety through working their 12 steps, but we will do so with wellness at the center of their stay so patients can get better — mind, body and spirit," said Ramona Osburn, senior vice president of behavioral health services for Texas Health Resources, according to the report. "We feel this will allow our clients to really focus on recovery."

The center will include four residence halls, divided by age groups and gender, according to the report.
