Cities in Washington, Massachusetts, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon and Florida are among the top 10 cities with the highest prevalence of cancer diagnoses among adults ages 18 years and older, according to the CDC.
In partnership with the CDC Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, researchers at the CDC created the 500 Cities Project, an interactive web application designed to help identify geographical areas where specific health outcomes such as diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and high cholesterol levels, among others, are most prevalent.
Here are the top 10 cities with the highest percentage of adults diagnosed with cancer, excluding skin cancer. The results have been adjusted for age.
- Spokane, Wash. — 6.9 percent of adults
