$100k Hearst Health Prize accepting applications for 2019 award

New York City-based Hearst Health and Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University's College of Population Health are accepting applications for the 2019 Hearst Health Prize, an annual $100,000 award that recognizes achievement in managing or improving health in the U.S.

"We are entering the fourth year of the award and each year we have been amazed at the number of impactful and deserving population health programs," said Gregory Dorn, MD, president of Hearst Health. "Our aim is to highlight programs that are delivering measurable results and improving outcomes, as well as proliferating best practices to grow the field's research depth."

Jefferson College of Population Health faculty will review applications, which will be scored based on several factors, including the program's population health outcome demonstrated by measurable improvement, use of evidence-based practices to improve care quality, innovation, scalability and promotion of communication and engagement.

The submission deadline is Aug. 9. Up to three finalists will be named in January 2019, and the winner of the $100,000 prize will be announced March 19, 2019, at the 19th annual Population Health Colloquium in Philadelphia. Additionally, up to two finalists will each receive $25,000.
