To identify the most obese states, WalletHub analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia on 19 key metrics. The metrics ranged from share of overweight and obese population to sugary-beverage consumption among adolescents to obesity-related healthcare costs. Each measure was graded on a 100-point scale, with 100 representing the most obese state.
