The e-cigarette ban comes via legislation signed Monday by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. This legislation, S.2543A/ A.516A, makes e-cigarettes part of the Clean Indoor Air Act.

Under the legislation, e-cigarettes are banned in public places where smoking tobacco products such as cigars and cigarettes is already prohibited, the governor’s office said via news release. This includes restaurants, bars and other workplaces.

The recent legislation follows a previous statewide ban on e-cigarettes on all public and private school grounds.
