Purdue Pharma’s Beverly Sackler dead at 95

Beverly Sackler, matriarch of the family that owns Purdue Pharma, has died, according to The New York Times.

Mrs. Sackler, 95, had been a board member of Purdue Pharma since 1993. 

Her death was disclosed in a legal filing by Purdue Pharma’s lawyers. It didn’t say where she died or give the cause of death. 

The news comes as Purdue Pharma is facing almost 2,7000 state lawsuits alleging its marketing of OxyContin was deceptive and helped fuel the opioid epidemic.
