On March 5, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board launched the Certified Pharmacy Technician Educator Program, which is designed to empower and validate educators, instructors and trainers who guide pharmacy technicians, according to a board news release.

The CPTEd certification program requires candidates to have a pharmacy technician certification or pharmacy degree and at least three years’ experience in pharmacy education or training. To gain certification, educators must pass multiple-choice and written exams within a 12-month period.

“This certification benefits everyone — educators seeking professional recognition, employers hiring qualified instructors, and students looking for high-quality training programs,” said William Schimmel, CEO and executive director of the PTCB.
