Last November, James Sutterfield, PharmD, — who worked as a pharmacist at Jacquelyn House, a care facility for people with intellectual disabilities — gave nine people shots of insulin instead of the flu vaccine. When he realized his mistake, he allegedly tried to cover it up by throwing away some of the flu vaccine.

The Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy voted Feb. 26 to suspend his license indefinitely, and he will no longer be allowed to give immunizations or dispense medication. He also has to attend law seminars and education classes for two years and pay a $23,400 fine, according to KFOR

Dr. Sutterfield reportedly plans to retire in April.
