New Orleans-based Ochsner Health has signed a new three-year agreement with Latent Health to expand the use of AI tools that streamline medication prior authorizations across its network.

The partnership builds on an initial collaboration launched in November 2023 to reduce delays and administrative workload in pharmacy operations, according to a June 16 news release from the health system.

Latent’s technology has shortened Ochsner’s prior authorization review times to four to five minutes, around 75% faster than industry norms, the release said.

“Latent removes the administrative burden that keeps nurses and pharmacists in front of screens instead of patients,” said Deborah Simonson, vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Ochsner. “Extending our partnership enables us to continue inventing smarter, simpler medication-access pathways at scale.”

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
