Kroger sells specialty pharmacy unit to Elevance

Kroger Co. has finalized the sale of its speciality pharmacy business to Elevance Health, according to an Oct. 4 news release.

The specialty pharmacy focuses on supporting patients with chronic illness that require complex care, and it will now be run by Elevance Health. Kroger confirmed the sale will not affect its in-store pharmacies or clinics, which will continue to operate normally. 

Kroger’s management has said that the transaction will not change its financial outlook for 2024.
