Kroger is now offering Zepbound KwikPen, a multidose version of Eli Lilly’s GLP-1 weight loss drug, at participating retail pharmacy locations.
The rollout marks the first time self-pay patients may be eligible to use Lilly’s savings program for Zepbound at a retail pharmacy, according to a March 13 news release from Kroger.
Pharmacy staff will help patients navigate insurance benefits, manufacturer programs and discount cards to find cost-effective access. Kroger pharmacies also offer GLP-1 patients additional support services, including pharmacist counseling, virtual nutrition care and referrals to providers as needed.
The KwikPen device contains four weekly doses, allowing patients to fill a month’s prescription with a single pen. It was approved by the FDA on Feb. 23 as part of a label expansion for Zepbound, Lilly’s GLP-1 medication for chronic weight management.
Other pharmacy providers are expanding access as well. Amazon Pharmacy began offering the 2.5 mg starter dose of Zepbound KwikPen for $299 per month through its cash-pay model March 9, with same-day delivery available in nearly 3,000 cities.
