Cost Plus Drugs co-founder Mark Cuban and Humana CEO Jim Rechtin hinted at their companies are working together, Forbes reported Dec. 4.
“We’re talking to CenterWell,” Mr. Cuban said during the Forbes Healthcare Summit. “I would say we are treating the whole person plus their wallet.”
CenterWell is Humana’s healthcare services division, which includes pharmacy.
While the leaders did not give specifics, Mr. Cuban said they will first focus on direct-to-employer programs that would skip over pharmacy benefit companies.
“How do you get rid of all that complexity?” Mr. Rechtin asked, according to Bloomberg.
“They deserve a lot of credit for trying to simplify,” Mr. Cuban said about the insurer. Humana’s pharmacy benefit manager has a smaller footprint than other major players.
Mr. Cuban and Humana told Becker’s they did not have anything to add at this point.
