U.S. District Judge John McConnell ruled in favor of CVS, preventing former CVS Caremark exec John Lavin from joining Amazon’s online pharmacy unit for at least 18 months. Mr. McConnell concluded that PillPack was a CVS competitor and that his new job would be similar to his old one.
CVS argued that allowing Mr. Lavin to take a job where he would help drive its “disruptive strategy” would violate a noncompete agreement.
