Within four years, the End Drug Shortages Alliance has expanded to 100 active members, including hospitals, group purchasing organizations and drug manufacturers and distributors.

Vizient and Angels for Change, a drug supply nonprofit, created the alliance in 2021, according to the EDSA’s annual report. Some of the first members were Fresenius Kabi, McKesson, Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic and the Children’s Hospital Association. The EDSA reached 69 member organizations in 2023 and surpassed 100 in 2025.

In a Nov. 5 statement, the alliance said 2025 “marked a critical milestone” with its drug resiliency and transparency pilot. The pilot united six children’s hospitals with three distributors in weekly data collection efforts on seven essential pediatric cancer drugs.

In 2026, the EDSA said it will expand its pilots, publish new standards on quality and transparency, and propel measurable policy outcomes.
