CVS Pharmacy completed its acquisition of 63 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores Oct. 15.
The Idaho, Oregon and Washington drug stores serve more than 9 million patients, according to CVS. The company also acquired prescription files for hundreds of Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores across 15 states.
“To increase capacity or fill open roles to ensure patients are well served, CVS Pharmacy has hired more than 3,500 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drug colleagues who were interested in joining the CVS Pharmacy team,” according to an Oct. 15 news release.
Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs — which Rite Aid acquired in 2020 for $95 million — closed its stores and sold all assets after filing for a second bankruptcy earlier this year. Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger and Giant Eagle acquired the other locations.
