Rite Aid has entered into sale and pharmacy transition agreements involving more than 1,000 stores, including locations being sold to CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger and Giant Eagle.

CVS will also acquire and operate a number of Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, according to a May 15 news release from Rite Aid. All stores will remain open during the transition, with no interruption to pharmacy services.

The sales are subject to approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey at a hearing scheduled for May 21, the release said.
