Hartford, Conn.-based Saint Francis Hospital has launched a program offering free prescription medications to uninsured, low-income patients with chronic illnesses.
The program, launched through a partnership with Dispensary of Hope, provides medications through the Saint Francis Rx Pharmacy, according to an Aug. 27 news release. Eligible patients may also receive medications through the hospital’s Meds to Beds program, which fills discharge prescriptions and delivers them to patients before they leave the hospital.
Patients must be uninsured or have insurance without prescription coverage, have incomes at or below 300% of the federal poverty level and not be covered by government-sponsored health insurance.
Dispensary of Hope distributes donated medications through more than 340 partner sites nationwide. Its network filled 1.4 million prescriptions for 197,000 patients in fiscal 2026, providing more than 3,800 prescriptions each day to uninsured and low-income individuals.
