CME Corp partners with Metro to provide expertise, product solutions, & logistics for a valued customer

Solving complex problems for a customer is just that, complex. In most cases the solutions involve multiple teams: the distributor, the manufacturer, and the customer. Here are two instances where CME, Metro and a major national healthcare system teamed up to produce well-designed results that were wins for all parties involved!

Pharmacy Expansion Project Combines Design, Proper Configuration and Assembly Within A Specific Timeframe

The pharmacy in the healthcare system’s facility in Washington was expanding and they needed the same customized medical carts it had in the other part of the Pharmacy. As seen in many projects of this type, these customized carts had no part number nor any of the correct component parts listed on the previous purchase order. The customer also had no one on staff that could assemble the carts.

The CME account manager, along with the Metro salesperson in the area, worked together with the customer to determine the correct components for the carts to satisfy the end-users specifications. CME then submitted a quote that included part numbers and full descriptions as well as a complete list of component part numbers. That way, the next time the customer needed to reorder these carts, they would have all the correct information. CME received all cart components in their Seattle warehouse, inspected the containers for damage, assembled the carts at the warehouse, and rolled the completed carts in with the rest of the equipment for the project on the agreed upon delivery day. The entire pharmacy expansion project was delivered, complete, on time, and ready to go by CME. One quote, one delivery, one receiver, one invoice.

Customized Replacement Carts Delivered Direct to Site

At a hospital in the same healthcare system, Central Supply needed to replace legacy-specified Metro Flexline and StarSys specialty carts. The original carts were not connected with viable part numbers and were no longer available from the manufacturer. The customer had no resources to assemble these carts and get them to the appropriate rooms.

The CME account manager worked with the customer’s equipment planner to get physical photos of existing carts, descriptions of the carts, and the end-user’s current requirements. There were 4 different types of carts with various levels of accessorizing needed. CME worked with the Metro salesperson to configure the carts based on Metro’s offerings and the customer’s specifications.

CME built a database of new Metro drawings cross-referenced with the customer’s old carts, including the components in each cart. Each cart was given a unique CME part number that included all of the elements so that the carts could be ordered from CME with one part number instead of 10, which really helped simplify the ordering process. All the parts were ordered and shipped to the local CME warehouse. To address the customer’s resource challenges, CME assembled and then delivered the carts to the customer built and ready for use.

This collaboration between CME, Metro and healthcare systems supply chains happen all the time across the US. The partnership and the trust developed between Metro and CME makes solving these complex problems for customers possible.
