Civica Rx names former Trinity Health exec as VP of clinical services

Civica Rx said Aug. 17 it has named Bob Ripley, former chief pharmacy officer for Trinity Health, as its new vice president of clinical services.

Civica Rx, a nonprofit organization created in 2018 to address the problem of chronic drug shortages, told Becker's in an emailed statement that Dr. Ripley will oversee essential drug selection strategy and process.

"We are thrilled to have the expert voice of a leading hospital pharmacist on our leadership team," Martin VanTrieste, Civica's president and CEO, said in a LinkedIn post.

Dr. Ripley most recently was vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, one of Civica's founders. There, he was responsible for leading the hospital's 90 pharmacies, 55 retail pharmacies and systemwide specialty pharmacy. He has 37 years experience as a pharmacist, Civica said.
