9 chief pharmacy officer moves in 2025

Several of the nation’s largest health systems saw leadership transitions in 2025 among executives overseeing pharmacy operations, with several organizations also naming inaugural chief pharmacy officers.

Here are nine chief pharmacy officer appointments and transitions Becker’s has covered in 2025, starting with the most recent: 

  1. Cedric Terrell, PharmD, was named chief pharmacy officer of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health. 

  1. LeeAnn Miller, PharmD, joined Cencora as vice president of business development and growth. Dr. Miller worked at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health for more than 20 years, including the last six as chief pharmacy officer. 

  1. After eight years, Elie Bahou, PharmD, stepped down from his role as senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Renton, Wash.-based Providence. 

  1. St. Louis-based SSM Health’s Chief Pharmacy Officer Kim Spencer, PharmD, stepped down from her role in July. 

  1. Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System named Andre Harvin, PharmD, as its first chief pharmacy officer. He is the former chief pharmacy officer at Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health. 

  1. In February, the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center promoted Jason Smith, PharmD, to chief pharmacy officer. He previously served as senior director of ambulatory pharmacy services.


  2. Sayre, Pa.-based Guthrie named Paul Mollo, PharmD, inaugural chief pharmacy officer. Previously, he was senior director of 340B and Medication Assistance Programs at Ascension Rx, a division of St. Louis-based Ascension.


  3. Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine hired Karen McConnell, PharmD, as chief pharmacy officer. She joined the system from CommonSpirit, where she served in a variety of system level pharmacy roles. 

  1. Ruth Cassidy, PharmD, was named chief pharmacy officer of New York City-based Montefiore Health.
