Employees are reporting higher stress and less satisfaction when it comes to their health insurance benefits, according to a survey conducted by Aflac.
For its 2019 Aflac WorkForces Report, the company surveyed 1,200 benefit decision-makers and 2,000 employees nationwide about their health insurance benefits.
Three things to know from the study:
1. More than half (58 percent) of employees said they felt stressed out when trying to understand their health insurance benefit needs.
2. Millennials and Generation Z employees, or those under the age of 39, report higher stress when it comes to selecting health benefits. Sixty-six percent of millennials and 63 percent of Gen Z employees said medical billing was stressful.
3. Additionally, health insurance satisfaction is falling among employees. Only 52 percent of workers are satisfied with their benefits, compared to 61 percent in 2018.
"After many signs of optimism last year, including record highs in employees' benefits and job satisfaction, the 2019 Aflac WorkForces Report found that American workers largely are stressed about critical health insurance decisions and less satisfied with their benefits offerings," Matthew Owenby, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Aflac, said in a prepared statement.
