The arrangement fuses Premier’s population health model and Anthem’s enhanced personal healthcare model, which provides value-based compensation to providers based on quality measures and shared savings. Under the contract, Premier physicians will be rewarded for lowering costs while meeting National Committee on Quality Assurance measures, among others. In addition, the organizations will share cost, quality and healthcare use data.
The contract includes Anthem employer-based, individual and Medicare Advantage policyholders.
The agreement comes less than a month after Premier Health went out of network with Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare following the parties’ inability to reach a contract resolution before their May 14 deadline.
