A study released Thursday by the Kaiser Family Foundation revealed a decline in insurer participation on the ACA health insurance exchanges since 2015.
The exchanges included an average of 6.0 insurers per state in 2015. That number dropped to 4.3 in 2017.
In 2015, West Virginia was the only state with one insurer, but two years later that list has grown to include Alabama, Alaska, South Carolina, Oklahoma and Wyoming, though West Virginia is no longer included.
Eighty-five percent of enrollees had three or more insurer options in 2016, but that number dropped to 58 percent in 2017.
Kaiser Family Foundation gathered data for the study from healthcare.gov, along with information from both state enrollment websites and insurer filings.
