OhioHealth reenters Anthem's Medicare network

Columbus-based OhioHealth is now back in network with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's Medicare Advantage plans after a contract dispute in 2018, the organizations said in a press release shared with Becker's Hospital Review.

OhioHealth and Anthem announced their new agreement Oct. 7. Under the arrangement, OhioHealth's 12 hospitals and physicians will be considered in network for Anthem Medicare Advantage members, meaning members can access treatment at lower out-of-pocket costs.

In October 2018, reports surfaced that OhioHealth and Anthem had hit a contract impasse. At the time, about 11,000 patients faced losing access to OhioHealth due to contractual disagreements. The contract expired Jan. 1, 2019.
