Nearly all OSF HealthCare hospitals to leave BCBS network

All hospitals affiliated with Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare — save for Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Ill. — will no longer be in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois' preferred provider organization.

The change is effective Jan. 1. OSH HealthCare said the Chicago-based insurer initiated the termination.

"It is our hope that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois will realize the value of having OSF HealthCare hospitals in its network for its members, and rescind its termination," the system wrote in a notice to patients.

Affected hospitals include OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Ill., and OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill. BCBSI and OSF HealthCare said they are open to negotiations, rrstar.com reports.

At the same time, BCBSI added Janesville, Wis.-based Mercyhealth and Unity Point Health-Methodist in Peoria to its network, the report states.
