Molina Healthcare to hire 250 in New Mexico amid companywide layoffs

Albuquerque-based Molina Healthcare of New Mexico will fill 250 contact center jobs during the next year, according to an Albuquerque Business First report.

The announcement comes as MHNM's parent, Long Beach, Calif.-based Molina Healthcare, said it is following through with planned layoffs in Long Beach Thursday, according to a Press-Telegram report. The insurer declared plans to cut roughly 1,400 positions in July.

Molina Healthcare spokesperson Laura Murray told Albuquerque Business First the payer will not breakdown the cuts by states.

"We thank all of our departing colleagues for their contributions to Molina, and are committed to treating them with dignity and respect by providing severance and outplacement assistance to ease the transition," the company wrote in a statement. "Fortunately, the net number of positions located in [New Mexico] will actually increase."

The number of Long Beach employees affected by Molina's announcement Thursday was not immediately released, Press-Telegram reports.
