Missouri Care inks deal with BJC after failing to reach contract with SSM Health

Missouri Care, which manages health insurance for those enrolled in the state's Medicaid program, has inked a deal with St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare and Washington University Physicians that will give about 117,000 individuals access to BJC facilities, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The agreement comes after Missouri Care and St. Louis-based SSM Health failed to reach a new contract. As of July 1, Missouri Care members no longer had in-network coverage at SSM Health facilities, according to the report.

The other two Medicaid managed care plans in Missouri — Aetna Better Health of Missouri and Home State Health — have both BJC and SSM in their networks.
