Inaccuracies in Florida Blue online provider list complicate patient access

As Florida Blue’s provider network narrows, patients have had trouble accessing care due to inaccuracies in the insurer’s online provider list posted on its website, reports WPTV.

In an official statement, Florida Blue acknowledged that some of its members have experienced a delay in care due to difficulty finding in-network primary care physicians. The insurer said one of its new plans has undergone “modifications since its introduction earlier this year,” but that it continues to meet required standards for access to primary and specialist care, according to the article.

Many hospitals have been notified that policy changes by Florida Blue will make the facilities out-of-network this year. Boca Raton (Fla.) RegionalHospital, for instance, said it was notified by the insurer that patients with its myBlue health plans will be out-of-network as of July 1.

Florida Blue sells the myBlue health plan on the Affordable Care Act exchanges. Florida Blue launched the program at the start of this year.

The insurer told WPTV it is working to update its provider list online.
