Humana is seeing a surge in COVID-19 claims over the past several weeks, but at the same time, other claims are on the decline.
The insurer is seeing a dropoff in non-COVID-related inpatient claims at the same time the delta variant of the coronavirus is on the rise across the country, according to a recent Securities and Exchange Commission report filed by Humana.
Similarly, outpatient claims seem to be on the decline, although lagging data makes the trends difficult to pin down, according to the report. However, Humana anticipates a decline based on similar trends during previous COVID-19 surges.
