Humana laptop, documents with member information stolen in Wis.

Paper and electronic documents containing Humana member information were stolen when a Humana employee's vehicle was broken into, according to The Associated Press.

The paper documents contained member identification numbers for approximately 250 customers enrolled in Humana Medicare Advantage plans and the laptop contained information of 2,800 Humana Medicare Advantage plan customers. Humana said the laptop is encrypted and protected.

"At this point, Humana has no reason to believe that the information has been used inappropriately," said a statement from Humana. The insurer also stressed that the documents didn't contain Social Security numbers or financial information, according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Louisville, Ky.-based insurer has notified affected customers and will issue new identification numbers and identification cards.
