New York City Health and Hospitals to expand health plan

New York City Health and Hospitals Corp., is making its MetroPlus Gold health plan available to all employees of New York City. The health plan had previously only been available to the public health system's employees.

New York City Health and Hospitals President and CEO Ram Raju, MD, wants to reach 1 million MetroPlus members by 2020, and this is a major first step to reaching that goal.

"Government and other public employees seeking a low-cost health insurance plan with premium service, a large network and top quality rankings now have another health insurance option," said MetroPlus COO Seth Diamond. "Even employees who haven't changed health insurance in years should look into the alternative we offer and our consistent record of keeping customers healthy and happy."

In addition to New York City employees, the plan will also be available to employees of other local entities, such as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Port Authority.
